Kiamichi Technology Centers, Atoka Campus, SafeGuard Insurance, and Blackhawk Services recognized Nickole Henderson and Blaine Ake as the January Kiamichi Tech Students of the Month. Nickole is a Tushka High School student in the Digital Marketing and Management Program and Blaine is an adult student in the Welding Technology Program. Nickole and Blaine were each awarded a $100 check courtesy of SafeGuard Insurance and Blackhawk Services.

Read Across America celebrated at Emerson Elementary. Read Across America or Dr. Suess Day was celebrated at E.E. Emerson on March 2. The first Read Across America Day was celebrated on March 2, 1998; since then, it has been held annually. The holiday mainly focuses on motivating children to read as it improves their performance in school. Emerson Elementary celebrated by having local members of the community and high school read to the students in the library. Students and guests were served a theme fitting cake made by Emerson’s own, Deb Romano.

A grateful country full of very stimulated Americans is applauding the lifesaving efforts of Congress. Already, experts are predicting the stimulus package will save the lives of at least 85,000 government programs. Sources say that with a little congressional money laundering, that figure could even double.
