Dovie Lou Moon
Funeral services for Dovie Lou Moon, an Ada resident, formerly of Coalgate, will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Larry Beach officiating. Burial will be in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Family night is Thursday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel.
Mrs. Moon was born December 9, 1943 to Ernest Fred and Vernie Marie (England) Baxter at Sacramento, CA and passed away December 15, 2024 at the age of 81 years and 6 days. She graduated from Choctaw High School in the Class of 1961. DoviemarriedAurbra Darral Moon September 29, 1960 at Midwest City, OK. They celebrated 47 years together before his passing on October 4, 2007. Dovie was a loving wife and caretaker for Darral for many years. She was a seamstress at Blue Bell, which was later known as Wrangler, for 25 years. After Wrangler closed, Dovie worked in the cafeteria at East Central University for 13 years. She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Tupelo. Dovie loved going to church and enjoyed going to Mary’s Barn and listening to music. She enjoyed square dancing, going to the casino, playing cards, crafting, and doing crossword puzzles. Dovie enjoyed family gatherings at Easter. Her most special times were spent with her children and grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Survivors include her sons, Darral D. Moon of Ada, OK and Eddie Moon of Coalgate; daughter, Pamela Crabtree and husband Calvin of Coalgate; grandchildren, Misty Moon, Dovie Denise Karm, Zed Moon, Glenda Sallee, Allen Horn, Krista Buchenan and Amber Crabtree; seventeen greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandson; brothers, Larry Baxter and wife Sue of Bellville, AR, Orville Baxter and wife Teresa of Paoli, OK and Terry Don Baxter of Oklahoma City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aurbra Darral Moon; parents, Ernest Fred and Vernie Marie (England) Baxter; sisters, Missy Baxter, Barbara McConell and husband Ricky, Ernie Sowter and husband Pete; and brother, A. P. Baxter and wife Judy.
Casketbearers will be Corky Acosta, Shawn Woodsmall, Stevie Baxter, Brian Baxter, and Danny Goodman. Serving as honorary bearers will be Rick Hyatt and Chris Baker.
