Naomi Faye Gooding
A Memorial service for Naomi Faye Gooding will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Crystal Cemetery in Crystal, OK with Scott Ridgway and Judy Chastain officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren. Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka will be in charge of arrangements.
Naomi Faye Gooding, age 80, a longtime Atoka, OK resident.
She was born on Tuesday, September 19, 1944, to John L. and Francille Elizabeth (Koontz) Newby, at Amarillo, TX. Naomi passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Atoka, OK. She attended school in McAlester, OK and Amarillo, TX and received her GED later in life. She went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Psychology. She was very proud of her accomplishment. Naomi was a nurse’s aid and a provider in Grand Saline, TX. She married Ralph L. Gooding Sr. who preceded her in death in 1985. Naomi was a member of Tushka Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching western movies, doing scratch offs, playing bingo, shopping, playing Yahtzee, UNO, and other board games, and going to the casino. She did not like pranks pulled on her. She supported St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Naomi is survived by her children, Charles Lamar of Clarkston,WA,HelenGooding of California, Elizabeth Brooks and husband Ricky of Norman, OK, Melissa Moses of Marysville, CA; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Roland Newby and wife Virginia of McAlester, OK, Rick Newby of Atoka, OK, Rose Crawley and husband Red of Wagoner, OK, Patty Skaggs and husband Roger of Moore, OK, Judy Chastain and husband Larry of Lehigh, OK, Celia Durant and husband Brent of Crystal, OK, Beverly Mount and husband Jimmy of Tyler, TX, Barbara Scott and husband Jeff of Kiowa, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, John and Francille Elizabeth (Koontz) Newby; husband, Ralph Gooding Sr.; sons, Ralph Gooding Jr., Clifford Gooding; sister, Sandy Goff; brother, Dale Newby.
