Velma Lou Hobgood

Funeral services for Velma Lou Hobgood, a Lehigh resident, will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Colton Lott officiating. Family night will be Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown’s Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mrs. Hobgood as born February 25, 1952 to Bert C. Rutherford and Pearl Faye (Compton) Tisdale at Oroville, CA and passed away December 14, 2024 at Lehigh at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 19 days. She received her GED and was a homemake. Velma married Larry Bob Hobgood April 16, 1973 at Durant. He preceded her in death. Velma enjoyed yard selling, the casino, watching Gunsmoke and most of all she loved playing with Squishy (Chastyn).

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Flint of Lehigh; sons, James Hunter of Union Valley, OK and Bert Hunter of Hugo, OK; grandchildren, Kaeleigh Flint and special friend Dylan Kimmel of Lehigh, James Hunter II and wife Kristin of Union Valley, Kendlelynn Hunter of Ada, Colton Hobgood and wife Cheyanna of Soper, OK, Garry Hobgood and wife Michelle and Courtney Taylor and husband Jeremiah all of Hugo; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters Violet Lick and husband Jimmy of Olney, OK, Wanda O’Bannion and husband Mike of Mustang, OK and Margo Madison of Kiowa, OK.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Bob Hobgood; parents, Bert C. Rutherford and Pearl Faye (Compton) Tisdale; son, Chad Hobgood; and brothers, Jim Williams, Joe Williams, and Lonnie Rutherford.
