Traffic stop leads to arrest of suspected drug dealers On August 30 at approximately 6:35 p.m., Officer Corey McCollum conducted a routine traffic stop on a Honda SUV with a Maryland tag for following too closely and crossing the double yellow line, almost hitting McCollum’s patrol unit. The traffic stop led to the confiscation of over four pounds of marijuana, suspected hallucinogen, and cash.

The driver, identified as Thomas Lee Burkhart, 45, of Ada, informed the deputy that his license was suspended because of an unpaid ticket. Deputy Peebles asked Burkhart to step out of the vehicle. As he exited the vehicle, something fell from his lap into the floorboard. As it turned out, it was a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine.
