First graders in Mrs. Kim Hedgecock’s classroom are benefiting from center materials purchased through the IAL (Innovative Approaches to Literacy Program) Grant. The activities are part of the Instant Learning Centers that Lakeshore Teaching Supplies offers. Mrs. Hedgecock received a Bug and Insect Center that will assist students in understanding the major structures of bugs and insects. She also received a Science Center that will allow students to study the properties of magnetism while encouraging them to use scientific methods such as predicting and classifying. In addition to these two centers, she also received a Math Center for counting and simple math facts.
