Coal County Sheriff’s Report

At approximately 2:00pm on May 29,2022, Wesley Elliot came to the Coal County Sheriff’s Office to report that his house had been burglarized. He stated the door had been forced open resulting in damage to the residence. He stated that there were numerous items missing, including checks from his banking account. Mr. Elliot advised the deputies that he was contacted by his bank about two checks from his account that someone had attempted to deposit into another account. The checks were made out to Reva Smith, one for $1300.00 and the other for $700.00. The checks were flagged for suspicious activity.
