Read moreNinety-three family members enjoyed the “Welcome to the Hamptons” Family Reunion held at the Coal County fair barn in Coalgate on July 10, 2022. Sadly, this was the first year without Aunt Ole Reed. Her dancing song, the Orange Blossom Special, was played while the family remembered all the times she “cut a rug” at the reunions. While her shoes can never be filled, we look forward to the next Hampton to do the annual jig!
Read morePeddling my bike on Stonewall streets that sunny morning was rewarding in itself but I was thinking it would be better if I had someone to ride along with me. As was so often the case, I didn’t see any prospects that morning on my way back home but I did see a big flat-bed-truck backed up to the old Garrett house on the corner of Broadway and 8 th street. I feared the worst remembering who had lived there before—an old man who was a complainer and grouch. Then I saw a boy’s bike being set off the truck. It looked to be about the right size.
