Cherry Dawn Adcock of Coalgate, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the age of 60. She went peaceful within her home. Dawn was born April 29, 1962, in Chandler, Oklahoma to John and Iva Fritz. She married Amos Dennis Adcock June 10, 1985. Together they had seven children.

Read moreDear Editor: My original title to this letter was “Will America Stand on the Word of God?” That idea came to me after listening to our distinguish president say, that if the Republicans won the November election, and passed bills against abortion, He would Veto every bill! Others have been saying that democrats will win the election by pushing the so called “Woman’s right to an Abortion.” Even the head of the RNC is worried that too much money is being sent to the Democrats for the coming election, because of the abortion issue. When the Supreme Court voted in favored of abortion in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, it showed they did not stand on God’s Word. Then Congress followed suit and did nothing to over-turn that ungodly decision. So, they too, did not stand on God’s Word.
Read moreKirk Francis McClendon (Bones) made his departure on August 21, 2022, signing off on a life generally well-lived and with few regrets. God broke the mold after Kirk was born to the late Francis Hunter McClendon and Margaret Ruth McClendon on May 22, 1962, in Antlers, Oklahoma at the Pushmataha Hospital. He attended Atoka High School and graduated in 1980. Kirk, with his keen wit and quick mind was always up to mischief with his favorite pastime in life being a prank he could pull often at the expense of his favorite “people”. He had the closest group of “wingmen” who always had his back throughout life and to the end regardless of the practical jokes. Kirk at the age of 14 went to work at Atoka Sale Barn for Dr. McDonald where he practically begged for the job from the “Doc” by telling Doc he would never see another cow escape the headgate if he hired him. It became a personal challenge for Doc to find the meanest and fastest cow to put through the headgate and 10 years and high school passed with this contest enduring.

Monday’s game against Heavener was a heartbreaker for Coalgate Wildcats Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 5-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Heavener batting in the bottom of the sixth when #32 singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Coalgate Wildcats Varsity lost despite out-hitting Heavener seven to four. Nevaeh Parker toed the rubber for Coalgate Wildcats Varsity. The hurler went six innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out three. RaeLeigh Madden led Coalgate Wildcats Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
