Funeral services for Cynthia Carol (Kirby) Brown, a Coalgate resident, were held Friday, November 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Coalgate First Baptist Church, with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. Burial was in Keel Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Janet Marlene (Kinsey) Gibson, of Coalgate, passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2023. She was born January 4, 1952 to Marvin F. Kinsey and Phoebe A. Rumley. Janet married Thomas L. Gibson March 12, 1971. He preceded her in death . Tom and Janet had two sons together.

I have always liked the acronym K.I.S.S. It stands for “Keep It Simple, Stupid” and it’s a reminder that simple is better. I used to write KISS in the margin of my notebook paper when I was in college and law school as a not-sosubtle brain whack, reminding me to keep things simple. Because you see, I have a strong tendency to not keep things simple. I always think I can get more things done than is realistic. And I have to constantly fight against this tendency.
