Grand opening celebration held at new playground

A ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration was held on March 11, 2024, for the new Coalgate Park children’s playground. The playground was the vision of local resident Tara Sandmann who began planning and fundraising in 2017 after visiting a similar facility in Frisco, Texas.

Ronald Allen Miller Passes Away

Ronald Allen Miller, a Coalgate resident, passed away March 24, 2024 at Coalgate at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 25 days. He was born January 28, 1956 to Ronald Max Miller and Darlene Lucille (Campbell) Guerry at Orange County, CA. Ronald graduated high school and was a boilermaker “welder” in Local 549 in Pittsburg, CA. He married Christy Ann Machado August 29, 1987 at Discovery Bay, CA. Together they had three beautiful children. Ronald became a member of the Welder’s Union Local 549 out of Pittsburg, CA when he was 18. He continued with the Union for 46 years until he retired at 64. Ronald liked fishing, hunting, working on boats and trucks, and making windchimes. He enjoyed building clocks with his step-father. Ronald loved thrifting and spending time with his dogs, Dutchess and the late Tank.
