LETTER TO THE EDITOR

My name is Stanley Buchanan, I’ve been around Coal County around 35 years. I am writing this on the behalf of my son, Edgar Buchanan. For some time now the evening shift of the Coalgate Police has harassed my son, Edgar, for over a year. So on September 23, 2022, they came up with some kind of a charge on Friday evening and booked him in the Coal County jail on Sunday afternoon September 25, 2022. He had gotten a hold of a bondsman and got bonded out of jail on a $1,000 bond. Well later on that evening on September 25, 2022 around 9:00 p.m. he got a knock on his door. When he opened it and stepped outside, I could hear him arguing with someone, so I opened the door to see who it was . Come to find out it was one of the police officers that had him put in jail. Officer Brown had took it upon his self with out being dispatched to my sons residence and the officer, Mr. Brown, was on duty . He did not have any right being there at all. Officer Brown went way over the line when he came to my son’s house to tell him he and another officer (tribal), come Monday morning, they were going to file assault charges on him.
