Service Saturday for Woodrow Childers

Graveside services for Woodrow W. Childers, a Coalgate resident, will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Coalgate Cemetery with Mr. Johnny D. Ward and Chaplin John Clemmentsen officiating. Family night will be Friday evening, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Childers was born December 15, 1918 to Andrew Jackson and Pearl Lavida (Powell) Childers at Pine, OK and passed away November 28, 2019 in Coalgate, OK at he age of 100 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was a Rancher and married Betty Jo File January 13, 1942 at Atoka, OK. She preceded him in death December 24, 2014. Woodrow was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed raising cattle and horses. Later in life his greatest enjoyment was working in his yard.

Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Hays of Oklahoma City and Carol Wilson and husband Jim of Ada, OK; grandchildren, Antoinetta Hubbard, Chris Wilson, Brandon Acosta and Michael Phillips; six great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dearly loved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and nine siblings.
