Service held for Mary Ellen Hines

Funeral services for Mary Ellen Hines, a Phillips resident, were held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Eddie Hogue officiating. Burial was in McCarty Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hines was born October 27, 1954 to Roy Junior and Betty Sue (Williams) McKeen at McKinney, TX and passed away March 16, 2021 at her home in Phillips, OK at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 17 days. Mary attended and graduated from Coalgate Schools and was a Home Health private care sitter, a waitress and a newspaper carrier for the Ada Evening News. She was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch drinking coffee and enjoyed feeding the birds and deer. Mary loved her dog Baby Boy.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Shores and wife Cassie, and Stephen Shores and wife Tori, all of Coalgate; daughter, Jayla Summers of Kingston, OK; granddaughters, Khini Shores and Karley Shores, both of Coalgate; grandsons, Austin Shores of Durant, OK, Logan Edgeman and Easton Edgeman, both of Coalgate; great-grandsons, Denver Mitchell and Lincoln Harris both of Coalgate; great-granddaughter, Aria Powell of Coalgate; brothers, Roy Lee McKeen, Donald Gene McKeen of Scott Air Force Base, IL; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Junior and Betty Sue (Williams) McKeen; brother, Leroy McKeen; sister, Jeannie Sue McKeen; grandson, Stephen Paul Shores, Jr.

Casketbearers were Jeff Eclair, Jason Eclair, Kevin Shores, Brad Thomas, Jimmy McKeen, and Gary Breger. Honorary bearers were Randy Godwin, Eddie Roebuck, Corky Acosta, Charles Jones, and Dennis Kneipp.
