Roland Lee Cooper
Funeral services for Roland Lee Cooper, a Coalgate resident, will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Osborne Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements. Family night will be Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel.
Mr. Cooper was born May 31, 1950 to Mose Sampson and Lorena Mae (Scott) Cooper at Talihina, OK and passed away December 13, 2023 a Atoka, OK at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 13 days. He graduated from Stringtown High School then attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Roland married Patricia Ann Fobb at Round Lake Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Centrahoma, OK on June 27, 1971. Together they built a loving home with three beautiful children. Roland worked for the City of Coalgate for 42 years. He was a member of the Coal Creek Church and Boiling Springs Church. He liked to fish and hunt and loved to dance with his beloved wife, Patricia. His favorite times were spent playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Randall Cooper of Coalgate, Amy Cooper of Hugo, OK and Mindy Cooper and Tommy Brazeal of Coalgate; grandchildren, Andrea Cooper, Colt Blagg, both of Hugo, Desirae Cooper of Coalgate, Roland James Kranis Blagg of Hugo, Aiden and Avarie Barnett of Ohio, Amyllia Brazeal of Coalgate and Trevyn Brazeal of Denison, TX; greatg randchildren, Bailey and Hunter “Jasper”; sisters, Mary Lou Cooper of Stringtown and Linda Cooper of Atoka; brothers, Raymond Cooper and wife Consetta of Atoka, Tony Robinson and wife Lou of Texas, Frank Cooper of Atoka, Johnny Cooper and wife Jane of Stringtown, Sampson Cooper and wife Glenette of Atoka, and Nelson Cooper of Choctaw, OK.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Cooper; parents, Mose Sampson and Lorena Mae (Scott) Cooper; brother, Moses Cooper, Sr. and daughter-in-law, Janet Cooper.
Casketbearers will be Sampson Cooper, Tommy Brazeal, Stacey Leflore, Terry Cole, Ervin Cole and Joe Goatcher. Honorary bearers will be Osborne Roberts, late Danny Ward, late Ernest Cole, late Noah Burris and David Burris.
