ML Bailey

Graveside services for ML Bailey, a Coalgate resident, were held Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Riley Cemetery in Coalgate, OK with Bro. David Boggs officiating Arrangements were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate, OK.

Mr. Bailey was born April 28, 1945 to Jesse James and Thelma Lee (Chapman) Bailey at Hatch Rural Dona Ana County, New Mexico and passed away March 4, 2021 at Coalgate at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 4 days. He was only able to complete the 8th grade because he had to work to help support his family. ML was a Supervisor in the oil field. He first married Deloris Sue Smith and she preceded him in death. Then on November 24, 2007 he married Carol Jean McAusland at Tupelo, OK. They spent 13 wonderful years together. ML was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean Bailey of Olney, OK; daughter, Sheila Reed and husband David of Lindsey, OK; sons, Daniel Bailey and Walter Bailey, both of Lindsey, OK; brother, Melvin Bailey of Stratford, OK; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse James and Thelma Lee (Chapman) Bailey; son, Marcus Bailey; brothers, James Bailey and Buck Bailey and sisters, Lois and Bernice.

Casketbearers were Steven McAusland, Roy McAusland, Dale Johnston, Donavan Riley, Ryan Riley, and Denver Riley. Serving as honorary bearer was Christian Boyd.
