Read Across America celebrated at Emerson Elementary. Read Across America or Dr. Suess Day was celebrated at E.E. Emerson on March 2. The first Read Across America Day was celebrated on March 2, 1998; since then, it has been held annually. The holiday mainly focuses on motivating children to read as it improves their performance in school. Emerson Elementary celebrated by having local members of the community and high school read to the students in the library. Students and guests were served a theme fitting cake made by Emerson’s own, Deb Romano.
