Read moreNational Children’s Dental Health month took place in the month of February. Ms. Shockey used this as her opportunity to promote the benefits of good oral health to her students in PreK through fifth grade. Many of us take for granted the benefits of taking good care of our teeth; however, it is important that we inform children and reinforce the message regularly. Tooth decay is the most common of chronic diseases among children. Ms. Shockey discussed the benefits of brushing and flossing our teeth. Students were given toothbrushes to take home. Ms. Shockey demonstrating the proper way to brush teeth.

When she was 3 years old, her family moved to a large farm outside of Allen, Oklahoma. This small town in central Oklahoma is where she grew up, and she always considered it to be her hometown.
