One Pharmacist’s View...

Allen has a long and colorful history. The earlier Cold Springs name came long ago when settlers heading west passed through this area on their way to (where else?) further out west. Many stopped here because of the cold springs. Some simply stayed a bit, camping on the river. And yes, the great Canadian River was quite a stream then. No one had built dams, lakes or to impede its flow toward the Mississippi. Commercial steamboats even made their way up this river as far as Ft. Holmes.

Danae Rochelle Miller, 30, was arrested the night of May 4 after she went off the roadway and struck a tree near SH 31and Cometti Road north of Coalgate. She faces charges for felony child endangerment and misdemeanor DUI.

WHAT A SURPRISE FOR RYTHOM! WOW! Rythom Griffith caught this big 6 pound bass recently while fishing with his Papa Jim. The fish was so big it nearly pulled him in, but Papa Jim came to the rescue. “ANOTHER FISHERMAN IN THE FAMILY.” Rythom is the 7 year old son of Clayton and Tina Griffith.

Coalgate student Carmen Albarado chosen as KTC April Student of the Month

Kiamichi Technology Centers, Atoka Campus, and Pruett’s Food recognized Carmen Albarado and Ray Thompson as the April Kiamichi Tech Students of the Month. Carmen is a Coalgate High School student in the Teacher Prep and Early Care Education Program and Ray is an Atoka High School student in the Computer Information Technology Program. Carmen and Ray are each going to be awarded a $100 check courtesy of Pruett’s Food in Atoka.
