Brylee would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Tuesday, March 8, driving in five on three hits to lead Coalgate Wildcats Varsity past Buffalo Valley 13-8. Rice drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the second, and a home run in the fourth.

Read moreCOUNTRY BOY COMES HOME — Carl (Rupe) McEntire, 98, Louis John Sandmann, 85, and James Stephens, 88, at Nana’s breakfast table on Saturday, April 2. Carl, a former resident of Cairo, now lives in Bryan, TX, with his daughter Gail. He came back to Coal County over the weekend for a two-day visit and stayed with his friend and former neighbor, Pake McEntire. Pake played two music shows, one at The Vault in Atoka on Friday and The Cue & Brew in Stroud on Saturday, which Carl thoroughly enjoyed.

His moves on the football field were similar to Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk. He reminded many of Barry Sanders dodging tacklers at Oklahoma State and then with the Detroit Lions. He was there and then he wasn’t. Randy was what all little kids want to be when they play high school football. Exciting, dynamic, and electrifying!!

John Jacuk officiating. Burial was in Farris Cemetery in Farris with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.
