It wasn’t until the middle of 1942 that we Centrahoma folk realized we faced yet another wartime hardship. The great coffee shortage. Seemed like it affected our fellow Americans too. We were each buying and consuming 20 pounds of coffee per year in 1942. But no worry. Grocery stores in American were well stocked. Big warehouses had it stacked up and nobody, but President Roosevelt seemed worried about it.

Tupelo 5th Grade Attends Etiquette Class

Tupelo 5th Grade students and their teacher, Mrs. Jill Brown, received a Carolyn Watson Classroom Grant for an Etiquette Class and Luncheon. Students learned and practiced specific skills such as tying a tie, place setting, public speaking, Conflict Resolution, handshakes, seating a lady, holding doors for others, and table manners among just a few. Students are required to master these skills to pass the class. Students who pass the class have the opportunity to practice the skills at their Etiquette Luncheon held at the Oak Hills Country Club in Ada. This year the luncheon was held on December 11.
