Ernie is a lifelong resident of Coalgate. He graduated in 1975 and received a full football scholarship to East Central University in Ada, OK. During his last semester at ECU, his grandfather, B.B. Franklin, had a stroke. Though difficult, Ernie made the only decision he could make. He left school and headed home to help on the family ranch and the cattle order buying business. He was raised with strong family values. When family needs help, you step up and do what you can. He left college behind and focused on the ranch. While working on the ranch, he also began assisting Bobby English with building homes.
