Service held for Karen Lyn Johnson
Funeral services for Karen Lyn (Penny) Johnson, a Coalgate resident, were held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Larry Beach officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson was born September 24, 1950 to Thomas Eugene and Alice Irene (Clouse) Penny at Santa Maria, CA and passed away July 12, 2022 at Coalgate, OK at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 18 days. She married Frank Jerry Johnson July 3, 1980 at Milburn, OK and they enjoyed 34 wonderful years together before his passing February 6, 2015.
Karen was an environmental service specialist for Mary Hurley Hospital and Ruth Wilson Hurley Manor. She attended Stringtown Baptist Church and enjoyed playing games on her phone and crocheting. Her favorite times were spent with her family. If you were her friend, she treated you like family. Her smile lit up the world.
Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Fitch and husband Daniel of Prairieville, LA, Amanda Dillard and husband Daniel, and Amy Johnson, all of Coalgate; twenty grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Wright and husband Tom of Beaumont, TX, Jackie Martin and husband Rick of Nashville, TN and Janice Hardison of Fresno, CA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dearly loved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Jerry Johnson; parents, Thomas Eugene and Alice Irene (Clouse) Penny; son, Jason McFerrin; brother, Tom Penny II; sister, Cheryl Turnage granddaughter, Katelyn McDaniel and great-granddaughters, Faith Lobell and Patience Lobell.
Casketbearers were Daniel Dillard, Daniel Fitch, Robert Beck, Tom Wright, Joey Turnage, and Terry McDaniel, Jr. Honorary casketbearers were Brandon Vandewalker, Justin Thomason, Craig Encalade, Paul Bermudez, Jason McFerrin, Jr., Trey Parker and Caden McFerrin.
