Coalgate man arrested for DUI drugs and no driver’s license
Ricky Donald Rose (alias Robby Dale Rose), 51, was arrested the afternoon of April 18 for driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended license.
Chief Destin Wilkerson said he conducted a traffic stop on Rose’s Ford Taurus on SH 48 for speeding. He stated that he requested Coal County Sheriff’s Deputy Trac Maynard to conduct a field sobriety test on Rose after he detected that Rose’s pupils were very constricted.
Rose was unable to pass the test and was placed under arrest and transported to the Coal County jail.
He initially stated that he had consumed methamphetamine about three days previously but later admitted he had consumed both methamphetamine and marijuana “recently.”
“recently.” During Rose’s initial court appearance, the Court entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf and set his next appearance for August 26. He has been released from custody on a personal recognizance bond.
Coalgate woman charged with DUI alcohol and suspended driver’s license
Melissa Laveta Hall, 44, Coalgate, was arrested the evening of April 22 after Officer Scott Shaw conducted a traffic stop on her Toyota minivan.
Shaw said he was notified by Coal County Dispatch that a caller reported a dark colored or black minivan traveling west on SH 3. The reporting party stated that the vehicle was “displaying erratic behavior” and that the female driver was possibly intoxicated.
Shaw parked his patrol unit on the northbound shoulder of SH 48 and waited for the described vehicle.
A westbound vehicle fitting the description turned south on SH 48 and was pulled over in the Tupelo Travel Stop parking lot.
Hall advised the officer that her driver’s license was suspended. Chief Destin Wilkerson arrived on scene and verified the suspended license through Coal County Dispatch.
Hall had bloodshot eyes and appeared to be distraught and intoxicated, Shaw stated. Wilkerson performed a field sobriety test, which Hall failed, and Shaw performed a consent search of the vehicle. Two open containers of alcohol were found within Hall’s reach.
Hall was taken into custody and transported to the Coal County jail. During her initial court appearance without legal counsel, the Court entered a plea of not guilty on her behalf to misdemeanor driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license. Hall been released on $2,000 bond with an August 26 return court appearance.
