Our Sympathies extended to the families of... Melba Lois Gayler

Graveside services for Melba Lois Gayler, a Cottonwood resident, were held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Coalgate Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Hogue officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gayler was born May 29, 1939 to Herbert A. and Alice Martha (Williams) Brown of Olney, OK and passed away January 6, 2021 at her home in Cottonwood, OK at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 8 days. She graduated from Olney High School in 1957 and was a housewife. Melba married Billy Ray Gayler December 29, 1959 at Coalgate, OK. He preceded her in death March 30, 2011. Melba was a Christian lady and loved sewing and raising her grandchildren. She ran a day care for a few years. Melba loved making pecan pies.

Survivors include daughters, Jeana Lee and husband Philip and Melinda Tuck and husband Dean both of Cottonwood; granddaughters, Bethany Lee and Jason Page of Clarita, OK and Trisha Swift and husband David of Cottonwood; grandsons, Douglas Lee and wife Kim of Norman, OK and Michael Tuck of Cottonwood; great-granddaughters, Melodie Swift of Cottonwood and Raylee Page of Clarita; soonto-be great-grandson, Sampson Swift of Cottonwood; brothers, Elton Brown and wife, Debbie of Tahlequah, OK, Marcellus Brown of Lewis, KS, Martin Brown, Philip Brown and wife Patsy all of Olney, Lyle Martin of Sayre, OK, Tim Brown of Cottonwood; sisters, Maxine Mitchell of Shawnee, OK, Beth Williams and husband Lonnie of Wardville, and Jeanette O’Flannagan and husband Jim of Olney; sister-inlaw, Frances Brown of Phillips, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Gayler; parents, Herbert A. and Alice Martha (Williams) Brown; brothers, Mike Brown and wife Idell and Victor Brown.
