Service held for Larry Gene McCurry

Graveside services for Larry Gene McCurry, a Coalgate resident, were held Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Cairo Cemetery with Danny Ward officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was charge of arrangements.

Mr. McÇurry was born November 18, 1946 to Jesse and Gussie Mae (Nolan) McCurry at Coalgate, OK and passed away August 22, 2020 at Coalgate at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 4 days. He attended Cottonwood and Coalgate High School. Larry was a dozer operator in construction and worked for Coal County District #1. He married Betty Sue Howerton March 20, 1965 in Coalgate. Larry loved riding motorcycles, spending time in the mountains and working on old vehicles.

He is survived by his wife, Betty McCurry of the home; daughters, Tammy Trentham of Coalgate and Angie Nelson and husband Loran of Clarita, OK; sister, Ann Runyan and husband Don of Muskogee, OK; sister-in-law, Jean McCurry of Coalgate; grandchildren, Landra Sue Nelson of Oklahoma City, Kaci Jean Maynard and husband Trac of Coalgate. Lana Beth Nelson and Samuel Lee Nelson, both of Clarita, OK; great-granddaughter, Jaxi Jean Maynard of Coalgate, along with many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Linden Dale McCurry; sisters, Sybil Davis and husband John and Barbara (Sug) Godwin and husband Neil; son-inlaw, Eddie Trentham and granddaughter, Kati Trentham.

Casketbearers were Johnny D. Ward, Justin Brown, Terry Daniels, Chance Griffin, Val Smith, and Alvin Pebworth. Honorary bearers were Mike Jones and James Ledbetter.
