Service held today for Hershel Hunter

Funeral services for Hershel Hunter, a Tupelo resident, will be Wednesday (today) June 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. David Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Centrahoma Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hunter was born July 16, 1934 to Jefferson Thomas and Ivy (Larabee) Hunter in Coal County, OK and passed away May 28, 2020 at Oklahoma City at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 12 days. He attended Centrahoma School and was a bridge carpenter. Hershel was of the Baptist faith. He loved to go fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, James Hunter and Sandra Owens, both of Tupelo, OK; grandchildren, Bethany Parker and husband Hunter of Tupelo, Savana Hunter of Latta, OK, and Jas Hunter of Tupelo; great-grandchildren, Mason Cruz and Ava Cruz, both of Tupelo; sister, Edith Hunter of Shawnee, OK; grandson, Tony Lemons and Ashley and family of Tupelo; along with many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Hunter and daughter, Carol Hunter.

Casketbearers will be Hunter Parker, David Stein, Nick Stein, Billy Stein, Jas Hunter and Austin Adams. Jeremy Stein will serve as honorary bearer.
