Service held for Tommy Murry Lane
Funeral services for Tommy Murry Lane, a longtime Stringtown resident, were held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka, with Ralph Crow and Paul Butler officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Stringtown with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lane was born February 14, 1932 to John William and Florence Magdoline (Kampplain) Lane at Stringtown, OK and passed away March 9, 2020 at Atoka at the age of 88 years and 24 days. He attended Harmony and Miller Schools and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. Tommy married Beverly Fawver July 3, 1956 at Jacksonville, OR. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. Tommy worked for a sawmill, cut wood, and also worked at McAlester and Stringtown prison as a guard. He was of the Baptist faith. Tommy enjoyed coon hunting, deer hunting, cutting wood, being outdoors, whittling and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Lane of the home in Stringtown; daughter, Tammy Crow and husband John of Lane, OK; son, Clay Lane and wife Betty of Coalgate; brother, Russell Lane and wife Janice of Atoka; sister, Joan Butler of Hartshorne, OK; grandchildren, Chasity Turner and husband, Scott, Kayla Lane and Tristan, Stefanie Lane, Nathaniel Jones, Ericka Crow and fiance’ Jerry, Rebecca Giles and husband Bobby, Megan Maples and husband James; 15 great-grandchildren, Brighton, Brendon, Lexi, Kaitlyn, Darien, Maeson, Kynnidi, Skylee, Triton, Roper, Krista, Alyssa, Brance, Ali, Jo Jo; one great-great-grandchild, Brenlee; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; five sisters; grandson, Dakota Lane; great- grandchildren, Kevyn Morris, Jasmine and Gussie.
Casketbearers were Matt Lane, Brett Lane, Marlon Ridgway, Brendon Morris, Buddy Butler and Ray Johnson. Honorary bearers were Jack Farmer, Curtis Belcher, Roy Dodd, and John Wayne Farmer.
