Opal Weller
Funeral services for Opal Evelyn (Morrison) Weller, a Tupelo resident, were held Monday, November 11, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Tupelo Baptist Church with Bro. Craig Cochran officiating, assisted by Wendell Ingram. Interment was in Byrd’s Prairie Cemetery in Tupelo with Brown s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Weller was born January 6, 1918 to Jessie and Julia Texas (Jackson) Morrison at Jackson, OK and passed away November 7, 2019 at Coalgate at the age of 101 years, 10 months and 1 day. She attended school at Burrow Valley and Stonewall High School and married
Deborn Ervin Weller on January 23, 1934 at Clarita, OK. He preceded her in death. Opal owned grocery stores in East Jesse and Tupelo. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and enjoyed sewing, quilting, going to ball games and cooking for family. Opal’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her loved ones at family gatherings.
Survivors include daughters, Jerl Dean (Jerry) Romines and husband D. E., Dessa Fortner and husband Paul all of Tupelo, Nell Tomlinson and husband Don of Claremore, OK, Regina Flowers and husband Johnny of Tupelo; sons, Don Weller and wife Joy Nell of Tupelo and Wendell Weller of Cleveland, OK; granddaughters, Sherry Haynes, Darla Pearce, Donna McCollum, Christy Bills Tammi Stephens Michelle Parsons, Shelly Pickle, Ginger Cornell, Elizabeth Weller, Becky Beach, Sheila Fennell and Cindy Sanders; grandsons, David Romines, Jerry Lynn Romines, Roger Romines, Ricky Romines, Billy Stephens, Darryl Weller, Clay Weller, Scott Weller, Jeff Weller, Michael Tomlinson, Steven Flowers, Kenny Fortner, and Alan Fortner; along with numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, dearly loved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Osie Jane Stephens; son, Joe Weller; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Weller; son-in-law, Bill Stephens; brothers, Clint Morrison, Elmo Morrison, Gerald Morrison, and baby brother, Edward Morrison; baby sister, Bernice Morrison; granddaughter, Tracy Romines and great-grandson Brian Kirkpatrick.
Casketbearers were David Romines, Jerry Lynn Romines, Roger Romines, Billy Stephens, Darryl Weller, Clay Weller, Scott Weller, Jeff Weller, Michael Tomlinson, Steven Flowers, Kenny Fortner, Alan Fortner, and Ricky Romines. Honorary bearers were Rick Ellis, Alvin Pebworth, R. V. Brady, Rodney Harland, and Danny McDougal.
