Memorial service Saturday for Dick Wood

Memorial services for Luther F. (Dick) Wood, a Coalgate resident, will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Rev. Larry Stephenson officiating. Interment will be in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wood was born May 20, 1933 to Elmer and Ethan (Davis) Wood at Parker, OK and passed away July 16, 2019 at Tulsa, OK at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 26 days. He attended and graduated from Tupelo School. A veteran, Luther proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He married Barbara Thrailkill on July 2, 1955 in Littleton, Colorado. Luther worked at Mac Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and reading. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wood of Coalgate; son, Kevin Wood and wife Jennifer of Coal-gate; grandson, Dylan Grubbs of Coalgate; granddaughter, Emily Grubbs of Coalgate; great-granddaughter, Pyper Rae; sister, Doloris Miller of Broken Bow, OK, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tracy Wood; sister, Dan Ella Smith; brothers, Bedford Wood, Delmer Wood, Ed Wood, Paul Wood and Dana Wood.
