Tanya Marie Thornhill

Funeral services for Tanya Marie Thornhill, a Coalgate resident, were held Monday, November 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. David McDougal officiating, assisted by Bro. Danny McDougal. Burial will be in McCarty Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Thornhill was born May 29, 1944 to E. G. and Rose Marie (McDougal) Thornhill at McAlester, OK and passed away November 12, 2021 at Coalgate at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 14 days. She graduated from Tifton High School in 1963 and went on to attend Aberham Baldwin Agriculture College and the Georgia Woman’s College. Tanya was a secretary and also worked in her family’s business. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing the piano and drawing. Tanya found great excitement in discussing politics.

Survivors include her sister, Karen Eddings and husband Richard of Coalgate; nephew Roy Hopkins and wife Ashley of Coalgate; great-nephews, Caleb Hopkins and Landon Hopkins, both of Coalgate; niece, Patricia Waite of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Gilbert and Rose Marie (McDougal) Thornhill and brother, Gilbert Thornhill.

Casketbearers were David Harding, Danny McDougal, Roy Hopkins, Celeb Hopkins, Landon Hopkins and Darryl Dayton.
