Shirley (Smith) Allen

Funeral services for Shirley Ann (Smith) Allen, a Coalgate resident, were held Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Kurtis Stoll officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Allen was born September 26, 1945 to Clarence and Lovoyce Rushing at Sacramento, CA and passed away December 30, 2023 at Coalgate at the age of 78 years 3 months and 4 days. She graduated from Coalgate High School with the Class of 1963 and was a homemaker. Shirley was a member of the Gerty Church. She was an All-State basketball player. Shirley enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing and tending to her plants and her garden. She loved taking care of others.

Survivors include her sons, Ron Alan-Roden and wife Gina of Oklahoma City, Marty Ray Allen and wife Brandi of Harrah, OK; daughter, Misty Kay Dial and husband Dusty of Del City, OK; grandchildren, Jackson Roden, Max Roden, Carley Roden, Marissa Allen, Micah Allen, Baylee Allen, Ashley Rodgers, Chase Wilson and Sarah Needham; great-grandchildren, Emma Rodgers, William Rodgers, Kalli Wilson, Michael Wilson and Everlee Needham; siblings, Billy Jean Blaylock of Calvin, Doug Smith and wife Joy of Coalgate, Tim Rushing and wife Janice of Calvin and Nancy Traylor and husband Ferlin of Gerty; nieces and nephews, Kim Hale of Doughtry, OK, Ronald Blaylock, Paul Blaylock and Treasea Blayklock, all of Calvin; along with many dearly loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lovoyce Rushing.
