Service today for Bobby George Lee
Funeral services for Bobby George Lee, a Coalgate resident, were held Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Coalgate First Baptist Church with Mr. Butch Platt officiating assisted by Jim Lewis. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lee was born September 25, 1927 to George Washington and Lena (Wilson) Lee at
Coalgate, OK and passed away September 20, 2020 at Ada, OK at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 26 days. He attended Coalgate Schools, graduating in 1945 and attended ECU College. Bobby George married Vernice Clayburn June 22, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Sherman, TX. They enjoyed 68 beautiful years of marriage.
Bobby George served in the United States Army for 2 years and worked for Sonny’s Grocery Store in Coalgate, Lockhead Air Craft Company and North American Company in McAlester, where he built air plane parts. Then he went to work for Garrett Book Company in Ada, OK and retired from there in 1987. He was a longtime member of the Coalgate First Baptist Church and served as a deacon there for many years. Bobby George enjoyed going to church and being with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed mowing and tending to his beautiful yard.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim Canida and husband Charles of Centrahoma, OK; granddaughter, Krista Motley and husband Dylan of Edmond, OK; great-grandchildren, Kayler Motley and Resser Motley, both of Ed mond, OK; sister-in-law, Billie Pearl Lee of Coalgate, OK; along with other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Lena (Wilson) Lee; wife, Vernice (Clayburn) Lee; brother, Eugene Sonny Lee; and sister, Lena Pauline (Lee) Hodges.
Casketbearers were Darrell Morgan, Bob Strunk, John Linton, Guy Strunk, Gary Coffee and Troy Blevins. Honorary bearers were Larry Lee, Phillip Lee, Wayne Lee, Neil Salmon, Dylan Motley, Kevin Haney, Alan Casey, Phillip Magby, and David Unsell.
