Service Thursday for Buddie Ann Childress
Funeral services for Everta “Buddie” Ann (Ward) Childress, a lifelong Coalgate resident, will be held Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Coalgate Church of Christ with Minister Charles Collett officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate is in charge if arrangements.
Mrs. Childress was born December 2, 1938 to Mike L. and Madeline (McCorkle) Ward at Ada, OK and passed away May 23, 2020 at Coalgate at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 21 days. She attended Coalgate Schools and eloped with and married James (Jimmy) Madison Childress on June 15, 1956 at Las Vegas, NV. They shared 43 beautiful years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on July 8, 1996. Buddie Ann worked closely with her only sibling, John W. Ward, at the Coalgate Tag Office and over 35 devoted years at the Circle N Market in Coalgate. She was a faithful Christian and lifelong member of the Coalgate Church of Christ. Buddie Ann loved the OKC Thunder and playing Canasta with her CanasSta ladies; yet her greatest joy was her children.
Survivors include her children, Mike Childress of Kiowa, OK, Joe Childress of Coalgate, and Marla (Childress) Latham of Norman, OK; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and special family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Luke Childress and brother, John W. Ward.
Casketbearers will be Chris Childress, Jimmy Childress, Corey Latham, Cody Latham, Katie Childress, Reese Childress, and Dax Childress. Honorary casketbearers will be Sherry Lolli, Janice Griffin, Brenda Burns, Linda Bellettini, Mary Jo Barnes, Teresa Gustason, Kay Yarbrough, Vicky Salmon, Colleen Sain, Pat Coleman, and Nancy Shores.
