Service Saturday for Irene Florence Mills
Irene Florence (Sallee) Mills of Cottonwood, Oklahoma passed from this earth into her heavenly Father’s arms September 18, 2019 while hospitalized in Sherman, Texas.
Mrs. Mills was born December 15, 1933 in Ashland, Oklahoma to James and Bessie (Smith) Sallee. On April 17, 1954, she married the love of her life, Eual Franklin Mills in McAlester, Oklahoma, and began what would be 65 years of mutual adoration, respect, and companionship. They raised two children, Robbie Sue and Larry, while working in Grant, New Mexico before moving the family back home to Oklahoma and settling in Cottonwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Mills opened up and for many years operated Cottonwood Grocery Store, while Mrs. Mills also worked tirelessly as a loving caregiver to many elderly residents of the community. Mrs. Mills was a member of Cottonwood Baptist where she volunteered her many talents including cooking, sewing, crafting, arranging flowers, and teaching children in Sunday School and Bible School. Mrs. Mills walked daily with God, had an unshakable faith, and was a source of great wisdom and advice for all those blessed to know her. She could stretch a dollar until it squealed but was rich in love and gave this love freely.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her loving husband, Eual Mills of Cottonwood; daughter Robbie Sue Nail of McAlester; son Larry Franklin Mills and his wife Sheila of Atoka; grandson Joshua Levi Nail of McAlester; granddaughters Destiny Laree (Mills) Pack and Aimee Genee Mills, both of Tulsa; great-granddaughters, Jayden Marie Sue Pack and Raelynn Nichole Irene Pack, both of Tulsa; step-grandchildren Sonny Stiles, Lacy Stiles, Molly Stiles, and Kellie Stiles; adopted grandchildren Rob Penney, Ian Penney, Will Penney, Brooke Penney, Rosa Penney, and Faith Penney, and adopted kids Wesley Sam and Perry Williams.
Mrs. Mills is now rejoicing in Heaven with her parents James and Bessie (Smith) Sallee, sister Dorotha Ann Sam, and brothers Edmond Sallee, Charles On Saturday Sallee, and , September Jimmy Sallee 28 . th at 2:00 p.m., a celebration to honor the life, love, and legacy of Mrs. Mills will be held at Cottonwood Baptist Church.
