Service held for Richard Garland Quaid
Funeral services for Richard Garland Quaid, a Kiowa resident, were held Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Kiowa School Auditorium in Kiowa, OK with Bro. Hak Melton officiating. Burial was in Wardville Cemetery, Wardville, OK with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.
Richard was born October 10, 1949 to Jack and Christine (Bailey) Quaid at Denison, TX and passed away January 21, 2020 at Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 11 days. He attended and graduated from Kiowa School in 1968. He continued his education, going to OSU getting an Associates Degree in Petroleum Radiology, then attended ECU graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math Education and attended the University of Tulsa graduating with a Master’s Degree in school administration. Richard was a retired educator, administrator and rancher. He married Betty Gene Olshovsky on December 19, 2018 in Atoka, OK. Richard was a member of the Harpers Valley Baptist Church, member of the Elks Lodge, and member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to the basketball games and cooking. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Quaid of Kiowa, OK; children, Richard Keith Quaid and wife Janet of Kiowa, Kevin Quaid and wife Kristi of Round Rock, TX, Kyle Quaid of McAlester, OK, and Maria Ann Rose of Atoka, OK; stepson, Brant Mc-Farland of Kiowa; stepdaughter, Kari Hill of Kiowa; grandchildren, Walker, Zain, Max, Madilyn, Kyleigh, Lauren, Hunter, Rocky, River, Cyndi, Tracy and Bob; great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Laney siblings Leonard Quaid and wife Kay of Wynnewood, OK, Patty Valdez and husband Tommy of McAlester, OK and Peggy Cosgrove and husband Travis of Arpelar, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by is parents, Jack Glenn and Christine (Bailey) Quaid and brother, James Glenn Quaid.
Casketbearers were Walker Wilson, Zain Wilson, Doyle Blankenship, Johnny Blankenship, DJ Blankenship, Drew Capps and Ryan Capps. Honorary bearers were River Hill, Rocky Hill, Hunter Hill, Jon Capps, Larry Eagleberger, Jeff New-berry, Brant McFarland, Max Quaid and Larry Don Roberts.
