Service held for Kenneth Wesley Lemons

Graveside services for Kenneth Wesley Lemons, a Coalgate resident, were held Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Coalgate Cemetery with Rev. James Williams officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lemons was born June 22, 1937 to Jesse Levi and Laura Ellis (Darnell) Lemons at Ashland, OK and passed away September 24, 2020 at Coalgate at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 2 days. He attended and graduated from Coalgate High School in 1955. Kenneth married Betty Jean Finley February 11, 1959 in McAlester, OK. He worked in the heat and air industry in Dallas, TX and worked for 4 years at the Ammunition Plant. Kenneth retired from the Oklahoma Highway Department as road supervisor after 26 1/2 years. He was baptized in the Church of Christ. Kenneth enjoyed ranching, fishing, hunting and gardening but his greatest treasure was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean (Finley) Lemons of Coalgate; children, Peggy Rishton and companion Rick Harris of Coalgate, Wayne Lemons of Tishomingo, Stanley Lemons and wife Leonda of Ada, Patty Stoll and husband Ron of Daingerfield, TX, David Lemons, Michael Lemons and wife Casey all of Coalgate; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Doris Hopkins, Thelma Dority, Jerry Lemons and wife Bonnie, all of Coalgate; brother-in-law, Jerry Edge of McAlester; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Justin Wayne Lemons.

Casketbearers were Jacob Rishton, Steven Lemons Brandon Lemons, Jeremy Brice, Ronald Orr and Larry Orr. Honorary bearers were Rick Harris and Richard Orr.
