Service held for Helen M. Newberry
Graveside services for Helen M. (Youngblood) Newberry, a Wardville, OK resident, were held Monday, June 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Wardville Cemetery with the family officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Newberry was born February 12, 1925 to James Lewis and Inez (Baxter) Youngblood at Chockie, OK and passed away June 25, 2020 at Wardville at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 13 days. She attended and graduated from Limestone Gap High School in 1941 as the Valedictorian of her class.
After graduation Helen married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, JV Newberry. She worked in California shipyards as a tack welder during WWII, at Blue Bell in Coalgate, and at McAAP. Her most loved jobs were being a homemaker, mother and granny.
Survivors include eight grandchildren, Jimmy and Deanna Newberry of Mounds, OK, Richard and Laura Newberry of Mandeville, LA, Steven and Terry Newberry of Mounds, OK, Jeff and Sindy Newberry of Atoka, OK, Mandy and Kenny Maxwell of Bohannon, OK, Kevin Newberry, Kristie and Wade Daniel all of Kiowa, OK and Kim and Richard Armstrong of McAlester, OK; daughter-in-law, Lisa Newberry of Wardville,OK; great-grandchildren, Lacey, Audra, Sydney, Natalie, Nathan, Lindsay, Cody, Brandon, Dusty, Kylie, Easton, Lily, Whitney, Jordan, Maggie, Kenton and Ethan; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Youngblood and Marie of California; one step-sister, Doris Ann Shelby of Comanche, OK; special caregivers, Sarah, Linda, Nana, Nonna, Mary and Bessie. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at TenderCare Home Health and Hospice in Coalgate for their loving care.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons, James Lacey, Jerry Wayne and William Neal; father and mother-in-law, George Elton and Vivian Newberry; brother, Billy Ray Youngblood; daughter-in-law, Barbara Newberry and great-great-grandson, J. O. Broadhead.
Great-grandsons served as casketbearers and grandsons served as honorary bearers.
