Service held for Dorotha Ann Sam

Funeral services for Dorotha Ann (Sallee) Sam, a Coalgate resident, were held Wednesday (today) August 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Coalgate Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Vern Stinson officiating. Interment was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coal-gate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sam was born September 28, 1946 to James Joshua and Bessie (Smith) Sallee at McAlester, OK and passed away August 25, 2019 at Coalgate, OK at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 28 days. She attended and graduated from McAlester High School in 1964. She later attended Northeastern College in Wilbur-ton and graduated with her RN license and worked in that capacity. Dorotha enjoyed reading, coloring books and spending time with her grandchildren and playing video games.

Survivors include a son, Wesley Sam and wife Terie of Coalgate; grandchildren Katelyn Lewallen and husband Michael of Crouse, NC, Tyler Sam of Ada, OK and Madison Sam of Coal-gate; sisters, Irene Mills and husband Eual of Cottonwood, OK and Inez Leamy and husband Louis of McAlester, OK; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Joshua Sallee; mother Bessie (Smith) Sallee - Barham; and brothers, Edmond Sallee, Robert Sallee, Charles Sallee and Jimmy Sallee.

Casketbearers were Caleb Ward, Tim Williams, Kevin Wood, Eddie Sallee, Rodney Leamy and David Gaylor. Larry Eddings served as honorary bearer.
