Service held for Arletha Jones
Funeral services for Arletha “Angel” Jaso Mitchell Jones, an Atoka resident since 2001 were held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Wendell Ingram and Willard Harrison officiating. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Park Cemetery in Big Spring, TX with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.
She was raised in Big Spring, TX, then moved to Caddo on July 4, 1993, then moved to Atoka in 2001.
Mrs. Jones was born January 5, 1940 to Reynaldo Jaso and Verbilene Mitchell at Stanton, TX and passed away December 5, 2019 at Atoka at the age of 79 years, 11 months and one day. She attended Carver High School in Midland, TX where she graduated in 1957 and then went on to attend Los Angeles Business College. Angel married Robert Conner Jones on November 27, 1958 at Stanton, TX. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Angel was a worker for the state mental hospital in Big Spring, TX, executive secretary for American Petro Fina, Cosden Oil, was co-owner and operator in Nu-Wa Janitorial Service in Big Spring, worked for the state in Nebraska, operated BBQ Unka Pete’s in Caddo and opened Unka Pete’s BBQ in 2001 on Coal-gate Highway in Atoka. She actively served the Lord in the Church of Christ for 57 years. She and Pete traveled the last 25 years preaching the Lord’s word. Angel was a member of NAACP. She loved being a homemaker, cooking, sewing, gardening, raising plants, being a mother, grandmother, walking and doing prison ministry. She also worked as a CNA provider.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Conner Jones of the home in Atoka; children, Johnny Jones and wife Charquintlyn of Ft. Worth, TX, Selena Crow and husband Ricky of Lancaster, CA and Robert “Brocky” Jones and wife Sylvia of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Johnny Ray Jones, Jr., Jacklyn Jones, Constance M. Peppers, Adriene and Amber Crow, Alan Jones, Jerid Jones, Madison Williamson, Kiley Jones, Yasmin Jones, Elizabeth Peterson; great-grandchildren, Johnny Ray Jones III, K. C. Carter, and Grayson; brother, Richard Jaso and wife Corena of Midland, TX; sisters Carol Jenkins of Los Angeles, CA and Darlene Mabry and husband Phillip of Ft. Worth, TX; very special and loved friends, Jerry and Stacy Sawyer; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stepfon Kiley Jones and several sisters and brothers.
Casketbearers were Jerry Sawyer, Brandon Bolin, Donnie Toney, Jonathan Smith and Drew Dennis. Casketbearers in Big Spring were Stanley Johnson, Gerald Johnson and Tony Green.
