Service Held for Alter “Althear” Finley

Alter “Althear” Finley, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, passed away on Sunday May 22, 2022, in Coalgate, OK. at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 1 day. Althear was born on Thursday, June 21, 1952, to Jessie Willard and Elree (Burton) Harrison, in Atoka, OK. Althear graduated from Atoka High School in 1970 and attended Murray State College and became a CNA. She married Simon Finley, Jr. on Saturday, September 17, 1977, in Atoka, OK. She was a member of the 4 ^th Ward Church of Christ. She lived to shop, go to church, and spend time with her family, and her favorite color was red.

Althear is survived by her husband, Simon Finley of the home; son Jackie Harrison of Coalgate, OK; daughter Megan Harrison of Coalgate, OK; grandchildren; Jalesa Harrison, Jessie Harrison, Ashley Harrison, Jackie Jr. Dominique Harrison, Sienna, Kenned, Sophie Harrison and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Jackson of Los Angeles, CA, Willard Harrison and wife Pauline of Durant, OK, M. “Pinky” Tetteh of Calera, OK, Jerry Harrison and wife Karon of Warner Robins, GA, Chester Harrison of Stockton, CA, and Beth Ann “Toots” Harrison of Atoka, OK., along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Willard and Elree (Burton) Harrison; brothers, John Davis and Herman Campbell and sister Jessie White.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Brown’s Funeral Chapel, Atoka, OK. with Bro. Willard Harrison and Bro. Willie Lynch officiating. Interment was in Well’s Street Cemetery, Stringtown, OK.
