Service Friday for Vernon Lee Chastain

Funeral services for Vernon Lee Chastain Jr., a Bethany resident, will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate. Burial will be in Lehigh Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Vernon was born April 2, 1968 to Vernon Lee Chastain, Sr. and Marilyn Annie (Horn) Wigley at Hawthorne, CA and passed away May 2, 2021 at Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 53 years and one month. He graduated from Coalgate High School and married Julie Dawn (Holt) Beckley. Vernon was a foreman for Townsco Construction Company building roads. He loved being outdoors, especially going camping. He enjoyed working and loved his mother and cherished time spent with her and all the family.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Dawn (Holt) Beckley of Bethany, OK; children, Brett Lee Martin and wife Sarah of Denver, CO, Felisha Canarsky and husband Kalib of Lead Hill, AR, Tommy Martin of Indianola, OK, Carolyn Johnson of Crystal, OK and Jaci Chastain of Bethany, OK; mother, Annie Wigley of Coalgate; grandchildren, Tracy Martin and Kasey Canarsky; sister, Karen Abshire and husband Jason of Coalgate; step-brothers, Eric Wigley and wife Amy, Chris Wigley, all of Stratford, OK and Jason McKinney of Pittsburg, OK.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Lee Chastain, Sr. and step-brother, Arnie McKinney.

Casketbearers will be Shannon Hedgecock, Willie Hansard, Donovan Cagle, Shannon Cagle and Arnem Hunt. Honorary bearers will be Roger Linam and Joey Horn.
