Roy Junior Bowerman

Graveside services for Roy Junior Bowerman, a Coalgate resident, were held Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11:00 at Coalgate Cemetery with Pastor Larry Beach officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bowerman was born June 26, 1926 to James Lee Roy and Inez Alice (Schones) Bowerman at Olney, OK and passed away March 26, 2021 at Coalgate, OK at the age of 94 years and 9 months. He attended Olney School and married Violet Ruth Lanoy April 4, 1953 in Cottonwood, OK. She preceded him in death October 18, 2010. Roy worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department and attended the Gospel Barn. He loved horses, gardening and red pickup trucks.

Survivors include: daughters, Cherry Hefley and husband Wendell and Marilyn Smith; grandchildren, Dusti Bledsoe and husband Ryan, Stormy Smith, and Brett Hefley and wife Kristin; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Bledsoe, Jude Bledsoe, Ellie Bledsoe, Nate Hefley and Nora Hefley; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Freddie Bowerman; sisters, Deadrian Thomlinson, Gladys Taylor and Alice Vick; granddaughter, Brandi Hefley; and son-in-law, Dub Smith.

Casketbearers were Derrick Vanderveen, Ryan Bledsoe, Brett Hefley and Wendell Hefley.
