Robert Lee Bays

Funeral services for Robert Lee Bays, a Versaille, IN resident for the past 20 years, were held Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 4:00 pm. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Rev. Shane Hamilton offi ciating. Burial was in Stringtown Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born January 24, 1974 to Lankford and Betty Fay (Blackwood) Bays at Coalgate, OK and passed away November 26, 2019 at Mason, OH at the age 45 years, 10 months and 2 days. He attended Clayton and Atoka High Schools and was a cross country truck driver. Robert was of the Baptist faith and loved hunting, fishing and dirt track racing.

Survivors include his children, Abigail Bays and Travis Bays, both of Versaille, IN; mother, Betty Cole of Long Grove, OK; brother Pat Bays of Coalgate, OK; mother of his children, Christie; uncle, Bobby and wife Ethel Blackwood of Ardmore, OK; step-sister, Rachael Marris Cole of Coalgate, OK; nephews, Dakota and Tyler Pommerening of Chickasha, OK; niece, A. J. Pommerening of Chickasha, OK; along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Shannon Bays; uncle, Ozie Blackwood; aunt, Flossie Mae Cooksey; step-dad, Jimmy Cole; maternal grandparents, Odie and Theah Blackwood and paternal grandparents, Mary and Lankford Bays.
