Melvin J. Hershberger

Funeral services for Melvin J. Hershberger, a Coalgate resident, were held Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at the Abe Hershberger residence with Bishop Edward Schrock officiating. Burial was in the Clarita Amish Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hershberger was born March 12, 1939 to Jacob E. and Fannie (Miller) Hershberger at Holmes County, OH and passed away October 22, 2020 at Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 81. He married Mattie Troyer December 3, 1959 at Holmes County, OH. Melvin was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Survivors include three sons and four daughters: Abe and Lydia Hershberger of Coalgate, Mose Hershberger, Andy Hershberger, both of Sarasota, FL, Ada and Freeman Yoder, Fannie Hershberger, Mary and Allen Yoder, all of Coalgate, Esther and Levi Stoltzfus of Manheim, PA; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie (Troyer) Hershberger; parents, Jacob E. and Fannie (Miller) Hershberger; one brother and three sisters.

Casketbearers were Jacob Hershberger, Nelson Yoder, Melvin Yoder, Daniel Hershberger, Mervin Yoder, Jonathan Hershberger, Shawn Stoltzfus, Ryan Stoltzfus and Javon Stoltzfus.
