Joyce Marie Boone

Funeral services for Joyce Marie Boone, an Ada, OK resident, formerly a longtime Atoka resident, were held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Sister Robin Steel officiating. Burial was in Bera Cemetery in Atoka with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Boone was born October 19, 1943 to Herman and Marie (Smart) Boone at Ardmore, OK and passed away February 19, 2024 at her home in Ada at the age of 80 years and 4 months. She attended Atoka High School and was a housewife and mother. Joyce was a Christian and attended the Church of God. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and was the best baker, baking pies, gardening and loved being around her family.

Survivors include her children, Sherry Meyer and husband Stephen of Ada, Clint Shelton of Oklahoma City, Bridget Crain and husband Tim of Paris, TX and Katherine Shelton of Atoka; grandchildren, Justin Gold and wife Katie of Boyton, OK, Travis Gold of Okmulgee, OK, Joshua Crain and wife Alexa of Hayesville, LA, Nathan Heathcock of Lehigh, OK and Matthew Shelton of Atoka; great-grandchildren, Colton Gold and Tagan Mitchell, Zane Campbell and Violet, Shelby Gold, Jacob Jocoy, Jackson Jocoy, and Cash Gold; greatgreat- grandchild, Wrenlee Gold; sister, Pamela Pettigrew and husband Scott of Ft Meyers, FL; brothers-in-law, Clay Simpson and David Johnson; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear and loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Marie (Smart) Boone; father of her four children, Melvin Henry Shelton; and siblings, Jerry Lee Boone, Janette Simpson and Annette Stowe.

Casketbearers were Justin Gold, Travis Gold, Colton Gold, Nathan Heathcock, Matthew Shelton, and Tim Crain.
