Howard Roger Smith

Funeral services for Howard Roger Smith, a Coalgate resident, will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Brown officiating. Burial will be in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangement.

Mr. Smith was born December 19, 1942 at Whittier, CA and passed away April 2, 2022 at his home in Coalgate at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 14 days. He graduated from Brea High School in Brea, CA and married E. Arlene Logan October 2, 1982 at Las Vegas, NV. They enjoyed 39 years together. Howard was a correctional officer at Mack Alford Correctional Center for 17 years until his retirement. He was of the Nazarene faith and liked to hunt and fish especially at the Coalgate Lake. Howard loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Smith of the home in Coalgate, OK; daughter, Jessica Riter and husband George of Coalgate; grandchildren, Zoe, Jasmin and Anthony Riter of Coalgate; siblings, Tom Smith and wife Debbie, and Nancy Smith all of Brea, CA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dearly loved friends. Casketbearers will be George Riter, Jessica Riter, Jo Spears, Raymond Lee Facion and Billy Cohin. Honorary bearers will be Ron Hampton and Anthony Riter.
