Graveside Service held for Norene Pingleton
Graveside services for Norene Pingleton, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, were held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Tushka Cemetery in Tushka, OK with Bro. Pat Loftis officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pingleton was born July 3, 1931 to Orvel and Pauline (Lenning) Meeks at home in Tushka and passed away September 15, 2021 at Coalgate at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 12 days. She attended Tushka Public School and graduated from Atoka High School in 1949. She married Bill Pingleton Sr. December 17, 1953 and they enjoyed almost 48 years of marriage before his passing on November 14, 2001. Norene was a secretary for Harmony School until her retirement on June 30, 1991. She was a member of Wards Chapel Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling with friends, missionary work, and loved playing with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Gayla Alford Smith of Caney, OK; sons, Billy Pingleton, Jr. and wife Sheila of Tushka, OK, Larry Pingleton and wife Kim and Keith Pingleton all of Atoka; sisters, Delita Taylor and husband D. C of Caney and Jimmy Ray Long of Mid west City, OK; grandchildren, Clint Alford and wife Casey of Caney, Amy Schoot and husband Wade of Hugo, OK, Amanda Lawrence and husband Ryan of Carthage, TX, Billy Ray Pingleton III of Caddo, OK, Denym Miller and husband Clifton of Atoka, Kaci Stephens and husband Allen of Prosper, TX, Taylor Henderson and husband Jacob of Oklahoma City, Pacer Pingleton, Chloe Harner, both of Atoka, and Bethany Pingleton of Ukiah, CA; along with many great-grandchildren, other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Gwendolyn Thomas; brothers-in-law, Wayne Long, and Harold Thomas; niece, Linda Thomas Doolen; and son-in-law, Don Alford.
Casketbearers were Clint Alford, Billy Pingleton III, Clifton Miller, Pacer Pingleton, Creek Alford, Jacob Henderson. Honorary bearers were Allen Stephens, Wade Scott, Ronnie Cochran and Pat Loftis.
