Eric Dan Benson

Funeral services for Eric Dan Benson, a lifelong Atoka, OK area resident, were held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Stringtown Gymnasium with Bro. Jesse Markum and Heath Davis officiating. Burial was in Stringtown Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements. Mr. Benson was born May 14, 1985 to Toni and Rita Marie (Skaggs) Benson at Sherman, TX and passed away September 12, 2022atDenison, TX at the age of 37 years, 3 months and 29 days. Eric graduated from Stringtown, High School, attended Kiamichi Vo Tech and East Central University in Ada, OK. He married Rebecca Lynn Allen December 29, 2005 at Atoka, OK. Eric was the owner and operator of Southeastern Truck and Trailer Parts in Stringtown. He worked for several years at Stateline Truck Parts and Stan’s Truck Parts in Colbert. Eric was a member of the Old Paths Baptist Church in Atoka. He loved basketball, hunting, especially hunting large whitetails, loved to watch Disney movies and play video games with “His Girls”. Eric loved listening to Working Class Bowhunter podcast.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Lynn Benson of the home in Atoka; children, Serena Lynn Benson and Jolynn Marie Benson; siblings, April Carroll and husband Ryan of Atoka, Mark Benson and wife Shelby of Phillips, OK; inlaws, Ron Allen and wife Linda of Tushka, OK, Robin Allen of Lane, OK; nephews and nieces, Travis Carroll, Abbygail Carroll, Mattie Benson, Chase Benson, Cort Campbell, Kraygen Allen, Lathan Ridgway, David Easley, Dax Easley, Bohdy Allen, Adalae Allen, Delton Allen; sister-inlaw, Karri Easley of Atoka, OK; brother-in-law, J. D. Allen and wife Katie of Leflore, OK; grandfather, Robert Benson of Atoka, OK; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many dear and love friends.

He was preceded in death by his parental grandmother, Lois Benson; maternal grandparents, Georgia Jackson, Kenneth Jackson, Clarence Skaggs; cousins, David Tisdell and Jared Benson; aunts, Eugenia Capshaw, Kay Jones, Joyce Jackson, Ahlona Jackson; uncles, Michael Tisdell and Randall Jackson.

Casketbearers were Mark Benson, Vidal Munoz, Devin Ridgway, Travis Carroll, Woodrow Barnes, Josh Eagleberger. Honorary bearers were Shelli Reeves, Colby McDonald, Tommy Baca, Joey Nichols, Stringtown class of 2003.
