Funeral services for Elmer Gene Griffith, a Tushka, OK resident, and lifelong Atoka County resident were held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Bro. David Kautt officiating. Burial was in Stringtown Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Griffith was born May 12, 1945 to Jess and Leah Nora-Inez (Bowlin) Griffith at Atoka, OK and passed away September 19, 2024 at Atoka at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 7 days.

He attended Atoka Public Schools and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army and fought in the Korean War. Elmer was a road grader operator for District 2 in Atoka County, where he retired. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a former member of the Mtn. View Church. Elmer loved to fish, work on old cars, and play dominoes. He enjoyed singing gospel music and dancing.

Survivors include his sisters, Shirley Taylor of Wilson, OK, Martha Baker of Harrah, OK and Alice Riley and husband Carey of Olney, OK; brothers, Orvile Griffith of Ashdown, OK, James Burleson and wife Sherry and Teddy Burleson, all of Atoka; along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Leah Nora-Inez (Bowlin) Griffith; brother, John Griffith and sister Emma Parkhill.

Casketbearers were Henry Griffith, Rod Griffith, Mike Delozier, Paul Delozier, Dalton Griffith and Judson Griffith. Honorary bearers were Dean Taylor, Bobby Joe Smith, Reed Callicoat and Louis Yarbrough.
